Na di Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Oluyinka Olumide, na im yan dis one wen e dey tok to tori pipo recently.
Dis one dey come as Lagos State goment dey face plenty yab sake of di way dem dey handle di matter of how dem dey demolish buildings and small small houses for different parts of di state.
Olumide say even with all di wahala wey person go face to secure goment approval, property developers and owners still dey find way to avoid di correct process.
Olumide tok say, “Just last week Thursday and Friday, myself and my team bin dey for Ibeju Lekki and Epe area and anybody wey pass dat side go agree with me say plenty estates dey marked. We go dia, and I fit tell you say from wetin we see, over 80 percent of dem no get approval.”
“Di way to get approval na to first collect planning information, to know wetin dem don zone dose areas for. For dis case, wetin we get na agricultural land, and pipo go meet dia family to buy agricultural land. Of course, dose family go sell di land because dem no know wetin di pipo wan use di land do.”
“Di next tin to do na to collect fence permit. If you miss di first information on top say you no know di area zoning, wen you wan collect fence permit, you go fit know wetin dem zone di area for. Afta dat one, layout permit for big land go follow.”
Olumide say person no fit collect layout permit if dem no zone di land for di purpose wey dem design am for or di purpose wey dem dey request for.
E add join say, “So, you fit see all dis layers, but pipo still dey go ahead dey advertise. Some don even reach di level wey dem dey show di sizes wey dem wan sell. Imagine person wey dey diaspora wey wan send money without any knowledge. Den, dem no go eventually get approval. Even if dem pass di assignment and survey give dem, we no go give di individual permit, because dem no zone dat area for dat purpose.”
