Di ogbonge actress wey recently share her tori for Teju Babyface King of Talks podcast, still talk about why she comot from Nigeria between 2004 to 2016.
Wen di host of di show ask am why she dey call herself “elevated omo odo,” wey mean like “glorified servant,” di actress come explain am like pesin wey don face plenti wahala for life before she come dey lucky to overcome all of dem.
“Wen I start dis ‘elevated omo odo’ tin, I start am from grassroot. Den, I go college. I get my NVQ 2,3,4, to become team leader. Wen I start work for dat office, Nigerians, Jamaicans, and Ghanaians dey dere, and all of dem sabi Sola Sobowale. But e dey confuse dem because my tag na ‘Olu,’ no be Olusola,” na so she tok.
Di actress still yan say dat time, she believe well well for dignity of labor and she do everytin wey she fit do to provide for her family need, even to pay her own bill dem.
Sola still talk about one time wen her Nigerian colleague, Eye Fadipe, see am and ask am why she leave her star life to come start afresh.
“He look me and say ‘You dey craze?’ I say I no dey craze. He ask ‘Wetin you dey do? You dey up dere for Nigeria,'” na wetin she tok. “But sometin dey wey better pass dat one. Na my future. My children na my future. Time go reach wen energy no go dey again. Na wetin pesin plant, na im e go harvest.”
She still talk about how e no dey easy at all to start over wen she move go UK to begin dey work as caregiver for system wey dey tough well well for plenti pipo.
“E no easy to dey start over, because for dis place, na only pipo wey get mind na im go fit stay. If pesin dey lazy, hunger go wire am. Even pipo wey don dey here for 20 to 50 years no dey find am easy, because wit di kind system wey dem get, pesin no fit run from bill. If pesin no work, e no go fit chop, and e no go fit pay im bill dem,” na so she add join.
