Aliko Dangote Don Step Down as Chairman of Dangote Sugar After 20 Years

Aliko Dangote don comot hand as Chairman for Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, after 20 years wey e dey lead the company.

According to wetin the company secretary, Temitope Hassan, talk for one statement on Wednesday, the retirement go start from June 16, 2025.

Since 2005 wey Dangote dey on top the company matter, him don turn Dangote Sugar to one big oga for Nigeria sugar industry, plus major expansion projects and better way of managing company.

The statement read say, “As e dey follow the principles of better company management and to plan for people wey go take over work, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc dey announce say our respected Chairman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote (GCON), go retire by June 16, 2025.”

Dem still talk say under Dangote control, the company run big sugar farming projects for Adamawa, Taraba and Nasarawa States to help produce local sugar and reduce import.

The company board don appoint Independent Non-Executive Director, Arnold Ekpe, as the new chairman.

The statement continue, “After serious selection and planning, we happy to announce say Mr. Arnold Ekpe, wey be Independent Non-Executive Director, go take over as Chairman of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc from 16th June 2025.”

Arnold Ekpe na old-time banker and former CEO of Ecobank, wey get better experience for boardroom and leadership work across different companies.

“We welcome Mr. Ekpe to this new position and we dey look forward to the next level for our company under him leadership. We still dey thank Alhaji Aliko Dangote for him 20 years of strong work and commitment to better performance,” the statement end.
