Former Super Eagles coach and player, Sunday Oliseh, don open mouth talk say e no support make dem dey give foreign coach work to handle Nigeria senior national football team. Oliseh talk say many qualified Nigerian coaches dey wey fit do the job well, but dem dey ignore dem.
Oliseh yarn this one when him show for Channels Sports programme on Sunday. He vex say Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) carry the Super Eagles job give one Eric Chelle — wey be French-born Malian former footballer. Chelle take over the work from Augustine Eguavoen wey dey serve as interim coach before.
According to Oliseh, “I no dey support make dem give that kind position to person wey no be Nigerian. We get better coaches for this country wey fit handle the job.”
Even though since when Chelle start, Super Eagles never lose any match — three wins and two draws — Oliseh still question why we need foreign coach when better local hands dey ground.
He even remind Nigerians say na him bring Wilfred Ndidi come national team that time, and na same period him invite Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho for their first call-up because dem get the talent.
Oliseh no stop there. He still complain say the way dem dey pick team captains these days no pure. Him vex say how person go be captain and him no dey play match, but dey sit down for bench.
“This thing dey wrong. How you go get captain wey no dey enter pitch? E mean say na assistant dey lead team. That one no make sense for Super Eagles because that position na the biggest role for Nigeria football,” Oliseh talk.
As he dey talk about football matter, Oliseh praise Wilfred Ndidi say the boy sabi ball well for defensive midfield position, but he still advise say person wey go play that role need discipline and clear instructions from coach.
He talk say, “That defensive midfield na one of the most important position for football. You be like umbrella wey dey cover defenders. Na why you need tactician wey sabi job to manage that kind role well.”
